The Faculty Grievance Redressal Committee (FGRC) is an essential body in a college responsible for addressing concerns, disputes, and grievances raised by faculty members. Overview
This unit keeps track of faculty concerns and finds solutions to their issues. On the campus of SMVNC, suggestion and complaint boxes have been set up at the various departments. Any member of the Cell may be personally contacted, written to, or emailed by the person in question. A Faculty Grievance Redressal Committee exists at the college. This cell strives to investigate any complaints made by staff members and address them as needed.

Grievance, means and includes, complaint(s) made by an aggrieved Faculty/Staff Members(s) in respect of the following services related matters namely:
- Withholding of, or refusal to return, any document in the form of certificates of degree, diploma, experience certificate, relieving order or any other award or other documents deposited for the purpose of seeking appointment in such institution.
- Non-payment of salaries/wages and or benefits or any other allowances or dues etc during service or retirement/resignation, as the case may be
- Discrepancies between their wages and /or benefits and other members of staff in similar roles/experience
- Termination without giving any reason or notice or memorandum
- Non-payment of gratuity amount as per prevailing Govt. rules in force on resignation/retirement; and
- Any other liability which is directly connected with their service and causing financial loss any harm or trauma
A complaint from an aggrieved faculty/staff member relating to the institution shall be addressed to the chairperson, Grievance Redressal Committee (GRC).

Scope
The FGRC will address grievances related to:
- Workplace harassment or discrimination
- Salary, increments, and benefits issues
- Promotions, workload, and career growth concerns
- Unfair disciplinary actions
- Violation of institutional policies
- Any other work-related grievances affecting faculty well-being
Functions of the Faculty Grievance Redressal Committee:
- Receiving Complaints: Accepting grievances related to work conditions, promotions, salaries, harassment, discrimination, workload, and disciplinary actions.
- Reviewing and Analyzing Grievances: Examining the nature of complaints through investigation and documentation.
- Facilitating Resolution: Mediating discussions between parties to find amicable solutions.
- Ensuring Policy Compliance: Ensuring adherence to college policies, labor laws, and higher education regulations.
- Providing Recommendations: Suggesting corrective measures and disciplinary actions when required.
- Maintaining Confidentiality: Handling grievances with discretion and protecting faculty rights.
- Monitoring & Reporting: Documenting cases, submitting periodic reports, and recommending policy improvements.

Procedure for lodging a complaint
- The staff can register their grievances through Online.
- After Registration the complaint will be accepted by admin.
- After acceptance faculty complaints will be processed.
Procedure for resolving complaints
- Lodging a Complaint
- Faculty members must submit an online complaint using the Faculty Grievance Registration Form.
- Complaints must include details, supporting documents, and any prior attempts at resolution.
- Acknowledgment
- The committee will acknowledge receipt of the complaint within 48 hours.
- Investigation
- The committee will conduct a thorough inquiry within 7-15 working days.
- Both parties will be given an opportunity to present their case.
- Resolution & Decision
- The committee will recommend an appropriate resolution based on findings.
- If necessary, the case may be escalated to higher authorities.
- Implementation & Follow-up
- The decision will be communicated in writing to the complainant.
- A follow-up will be conducted to ensure compliance and satisfaction
Policies
The FGRC operates under strict confidentiality guidelines to protect the identity of the complaint and ensure that no faculty member faces retaliation for filing a complaint. The institution upholds a zero-tolerance policy for victimization and ensures that all cases are handled with neutrality, sensitivity, and professionalism. If a faculty member is dissatisfied with the resolution, they may appeal to higher authorities such as the Principal/Director or the Governing Body of the institution. To maintain effectiveness, the grievance redressal policies are reviewed annually, and necessary amendments are made based on institutional requirements and feedback from faculty members.
The FGRC members are expected to uphold ethical conduct, remain impartial, and ensure that all grievances are addressed efficiently. The committee’s overall mission is to create a supportive academic environment where faculty members feel valued, respected, and empowered to raise their concerns without fear of discrimination or bias.
