Department of Nursing of Sri Manakula Vinayagar Nursing College and Sri Manakula Vinayagar Medical College & Hospital has jointly celebrated an “International Nurses Day– 2023” for 3 days from 17.05.2023 to 19.05.2023. Various competitions were conducted based on the theme of “OUR NURSES, OUR FUTURE” which was organized under the guidance of DR. Prof. G. Muthamilselvi, Principal and Dr. S. Narmatha, Prof. cum Vice-Principal, Organizing Secretary, SMVNC.

The programme was started on 17.05.2023 at SMVNC campus for the Nursing students of our college, includes Rangoli competition, Elocution (Tamil & English), Poem writing (Tamil & English), and Drawing competition. On 18.05.2023, Rangoli competition, Elocution (Tamil & English), and Drawing competition was conducted for the Staff Nurses of Sri Manakula Vinayagar Medical College & Hospital. The competitions were evaluated by various department experts of Sri Manakula Vinayaga Educational Trust. The students and the Staff Nurses has actively participated in all the competitions.

The valedictory ceremony was held on 19.05.2023 around 10.00 am at SMVMCH basement auditorium. The occasion was invocated by Thamizhthai Vazhthu song by our Nursing students and inaugurated with lighting the kuthuvillaku by the chief guests, Dr. Jeyagowri, Ph.D (N), Professor cum Principal of College of Nursing, East Coast Institute of Medical Sciences, Puducherry, Thiru. T. Datchanamourthy, Administrative officer, SMVMCH, welcome address was delivered by DR. Prof. G. Muthamilselvi, Principal, SMVNC. Mrs. N. Rajalakshmi, DNS, SMVMCH has gave a speech on International Nurse’s Day 2023. Introduction of chief guest was given by DR. R. Sridevi, Professor, SMVNC. The chief guest Dr. Jeyagowri, Ph.D (N), Professor cum Principal of CON, EIMS has delivered her address on this great occasion. Introduction of special guest was given by Mrs. P. Manimegalai, Associate Professor, SMVNC. Dr. K. Kalaivendhan, Dental Surgeon, President – TFSM has delivered his special address on International Nurse’s Day. Felicitation was given by Dr. M. Pragash, Medical Superintendent, SMVMCH.

The programme commenced with a Welcome Dance by our Nursing Student. Various cultural programs were done by Staff Nurses and Nursing Students. The event was continued with a donation of wheelchair by Nursing department of SMVMCH to a cancer patient at SMVMCH. Prizes were distributed to the winners of International Nurse’s Day competitions which was held for Staff Nurse’s and Nursing Students by DR. Prof. G. Muthamilselvi, Principal, SMVNC, Dr. K. Kalaivendhan, Dental Surgeon, President – TFSM and Mrs. Prabavathy, DNS, SMVMCH. Followed by the prize distribution, Himalaya’s group of company has given an appreciation certificate and a baby care Himalayan product kit for all Nursing staffs and students in the remembrance of Nursing service. Vote of Thanks was proposed by Mrs. Leena Grace. B, ANS, SMVMCH. The programme was completed successfully with the blessings of almighty and ended with National Anthem song by our Nursing Students.
