Sri Manakula Vinayagar Nursing College (SMVNC) was established in 2007 under the visionary leadership of Shri. M. Dhanasekaran, Founder, Chairman & Managing Director-SMVET, a dedicated philanthropist with a profound commitment to uplifting nursing education in Puducherry. At a time when quality nursing education was scarce and healthcare standards in the region faced significant challenges, he set out to create a center of excellence that would bridge this critical gap.

The Chairman-SMVET commitment extended beyond academic excellence. He believed nurses have a moral and social responsibility to serve the underserved and share essential health knowledge with the wider community. His philosophy—that health is more than the absence of illness and that it encompasses the knowledge, education, and resources necessary for well-being—continues to guide our institutional values today

With a strong belief in the power of education especially for women, the institution believes that nursing as a noble and empowering profession that could transform lives, families, and communities. Guided by this conviction, SMVNC was founded not only to deliver top-tier nursing education but also to empower aspiring young women and men to build meaningful careers in healthcare.

The college was further accredited with ISO 21001 certification in the year 2025. Established in 2007, Sri Manakula Vinayagar Nursing College has been steadfast in its mission to nurture highly skilled, ethically grounded, and compassionate nursing professionals. Our institution affiliated with Pondicherry University, offers Basic B.Sc. Nursing, Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing and M.Sc. Nursing programmes, each designed to meet the evolving demands of healthcare while fostering the holistic growth of our students.

We believe that excellence in nursing education goes beyond academic mastery. Our approach integrates rigorous academic instruction with co-curricular and extracurricular engagement, enabling students to develop leadership qualities, ethical values, and emotional intelligence alongside their clinical expertise.
